Glossary of Stones

  • Sodalite

Sodalite is a sodium aluminum silicate chloride. It has a deep to medium blue coloration interspersed with white veining. Similar to lapis lazuli, it is easy to distinguish because it does not have the pyrite inclusions. It is a 6 on the Mohs hardness scale.

Considered the poor man’s lapis lazuli, it is a strong healing mineral in its own right. It can be used for expanding the mind, and is a dependable stone when learning meditation and establishing a consistent practice. It supports your higher creative expression and gives power of the mental over the physical. Sodalite can help balance the emotions and ease subconscious fear.

You can use Sodalite at the brow chakra (6th) when delving into fears and guilt, especially those associated with past memories of neglect or failure. You can use this stone at the higher 5th (spiritual throat chakra) for listening to your spiritual truth and communicating your spiritual power.

This is a calming stone, one that you can place in your pocket and then trust that your day will be guided by spiritual ideas and thoughts.
