Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper and aluminum silicate growing in microcrystalline masses. It is bright green to bluish, it can be opaque to translucent and has a hardness of 2.5. In its gemmy, or crystalline, state it is known as Gem Silica and has a hardness of 7.
